ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENTS – REVITALISE YOUR APPEARANCE
Discreet Wrinkle Reduction treatment at Wellsford Dental? Absolutely!
We are one of the most suitable health professionals to offer this service. We have a very comprehensive knowledge of the anatomy of the head and neck; and its nerves, muscles, and vascular systems, as this is the fundamental knowledge that underlies everything we do in dentistry. Based on this we are extensively trained to deliver anti-wrinkle injections safely and precisely.
We offer a discreet service for both men and women, with our patients enjoying exceptional non-surgical outcomes. Our less is more approach ensures safe, natural looking results. Our highly trained clinicians will guide you through the process, ensuring your comfort at every stage along the way, helping you achieve safe, subtle, and aesthetically pleasing results that are hard to spot – but result in our patients looking softened and relaxed.
Anti-wrinkle treatments are generally sought after once your dynamic wrinkles become more noticeable to you. Wellsford Dental uses Xeomin, (incobotulinumtoxinA), a highly purified injectable, which has been scientifically formulated to purify the active protein that is responsible for relaxing the facial muscles that cause fine lines and wrinkles. Unlike other formulations it is free from unnecessary additional proteins, that may over time increase the risk of your anti-wrinkle treatment not working. Xeomin is used to soften and reduce frown lines, horizontal forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes.
This begins with a safe space that feels comfortable, is discreet and continues with expertise and advice, tailoring treatment to your individual needs, for fresh natural results. We welcome you to come and have a non-judgemental chat with us, where we can provide honest and reliable advice you can trust.
WHAT IS A WRINKLE REDUCTION TREATMENT?
Anti-Wrinkle injections, or Wrinkle Reduction treatments, are the terms used for a non-surgical cosmetic procedure, whereby a small amount of serum containing Botulinum Toxin Type A is administered into selected facial muscles by a trained medical professional using a very fine needle.
This purified neurotoxin blocks communication between the muscle and nerves that connect to it. By preventing muscle movement, the skin above it relaxes, reducing the appearance of wrinkles and creating a smoother complexion. Anti-wrinkle injections can be used to reduce existing wrinkles, and stave off the formation of lines as a preventative practice.
Anti-wrinkle injections containing Botulinum Toxin have been approved for use in New Zealand since 1991, treating a range of medical and cosmetic concerns from dynamic wrinkles through to bladder conditions.
HOW LONG DOES A TREATMENT TAKE AND DOES IT HURT?
Generally, the treatment takes around 30 minutes. Discomfort is typically minimal and brief, and no anaesthetic is required. The injection may sting for a few seconds, but normal activities can be resumed soon after, if they are not too exerting – we do not recommend vigorous exercise for the rest of that day. Avoid rubbing the area for 2 weeks after (including facials and massage)
HOW LONG BEFORE RESULTS CAN BE SEEN?
After the treatment it takes 2-3 days to begin taking effect and takes 2 weeks to see the full effect. The dose recommended for the treatment will vary depending on your individual situation. Your clinician will know what the best dose is for you, and how to give you the best natural looking results.
HOW LONG DOES XEOMIN LAST?
This varies from person to person, but the results typically last between 3-5 months from date of treatment. Variability stems from factors such as the patient’s metabolism, the strength of facial muscles, and quality of skin. Over time the body metabolises the serum, leading to the slow return of muscle movement in the treatment area.
AM I A SUITABLE CANDIDATE FOR ANTI-WRINKLE TREATMENTS? WHAT ARE THE RISKS?
The ideal candidates for Wrinkle Relaxation treatments are typically individuals who are in good health, have realistic expectations, and are looking to treat or prevent wrinkles caused by muscle activity.
While Botulinum toxin treatments are largely a safe procedure, those who are not suitable for this treatment include those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Patients with neuromuscular disorders such as ALS, myasthenia gravis, motor neurone disease and Lambert-Eaton syndrome, should not be treated with Botulinum toxin as it may make symptoms worse. Anyone with allergies to Botulinum toxin or its constituents should not have Botulinum toxin treatments. We reserve the right to choose whether to treat patients under the age of 25.
CONSULTATION PROCESS
Before beginning treatment, we will firstly provide you with a complimentary consultation to ensure you are an ideal candidate and discuss your goals to tailor an individual plan just for you. Your medical history and safety are very important to us, so we take the time to discuss this in detail. After the consultation, you will know how much product we will use and precisely what it will cost. There is no obligation to have the treatment. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have and give you all the information required to make an informed decision. We offer a discreet, impartial service. We will not go ahead with a treatment if we do not believe it is your best interest.
RISKS and SIDE EFFECTS
Side effects and complications sometimes occur but are rare. Most people experience no side effects. Minor and temporary side effects such as a headache and bruising, redness or swelling at the injection site can happen. The most significant complication, although still rare, is a drooping or lazy eyelid when treating frown lines. This may last 2 to 3 weeks and will resolve. All risks will be discussed in detail at the time of your consultation. A full medical history will be discussed prior any treatment.
AREAS WE TREAT
Frown Lines
For the area known as glabellar, or the 11 lines, between your eyebrows. Xeomin helps soften these lines, so there is not such a deep burrow when using those muscles to concentrate.
Forehead & Frown Lines Combo
We aim to give you a relaxed and natural look, so there is still some expression and you do not look ‘frozen’, while still reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles on your forehead, and between your eyebrows.
Crow’s Feet
Also known as Smile Lines, these are the fine lines at the corner of your eyes. They are caused by squinting and laughing. But can be treated effectively with Xeomin to give you a refreshed look.
Masseter Muscle
The masseter is a very strong muscle located at your jawline, it works every time you talk, eat and yawn. By relaxing the strength of the masseter muscle, Xeomin can help reduce the tension in the jaw, which can help relieve pressure caused from clenching and grinding. This treatment can help ease some discomfort experienced from TMJ (temporomandibular joint disorder)
